What’s the Point?
I get a lot of people saying to me, There is no point of washing my car during winter, It’s only going to get dirty again anyway.” Keeping your car clean in winter can be a real chore, especially if you are going on the freeway every day. Another quote I get is “The rain will wash off the dirt.” I liken this to standing in a cold shower for 10 minutes not using any soap and expecting to come out clean.
Why should I Clean my Car?
Whilst we may not wash our car as much during winter, it is essential to make sure it is protected from the elements. When driving in the wet, there is a lot of particles of dirt/tar/iron etc on the road that get picked up by the water and splashed on the vehicle. As the rain then does not wash these off, they build up and can do damage to the vehicle. Next time you get a chance, go up to a white vehicle and have a close look at the surface. You will notice especially on the top surfaces, there will be tiny little brown dots. These are actual metal particles that stick or imbed into the surface and due to their nature begin to rust. I have attached an example of this in the gallery. If left, these can cause serious damage to the paint. The good news however is they can be removed.
Keep it Protected
There are several ways that you can reduce the severity of the elements attacking your investment during the winter months. The best way is to make sure you have a good coat of sealant on the painted surfaces. This allows for an easier clean by creating a slippery barrier. This coating depending on quality will last several months and should be applied as an example, April, June and August. Regular washing of at least once a month will reduce the build up of contamination on the paint. Having your car cleansed twice a year will keep the surface clean contaminants to a minimum. We have a variety of detailing packages that will maintain your car and keep it looking good.
